Thank God for those that have a way with words, for they seem to provide us with exactly what we need to hear. Check out these best Anime quotes here for inspiration.

There’s a reason we’re so drawn to quotes. Sometimes, others can better summarize how we think and feel, allowing us to resonate with the words they leave behind. You can bet there is a quote for everything. Some are motivational, some are philosophical. They may invoke joy, sadness, fresh perspectives or sudden realizations. But mostly, quotes are there to inspire us.

You may be surprised to know that some of the most beautiful quotes are uttered from the mouths of fictional figures in Anime. But it’s true. This is down to rich storylines, complex plots and superb character development. Anime has long been known for not only this but amazing scripts and voice acting which makes the quotes that much more powerful. We compiled a list as best we could from the treasure trove of Anime quotes out there to set you ablaze with inspiration.

Epic And Inspirational Anime Quotes

“The world isn’t perfect. But it’s there for us, doing the best it can….that’s what makes it so damn beautiful.”

– Roy Mustang from FullMetal Alchemist

Roy Mustang is one of the coolest characters to ever grace the world of Anime. He is an Alchemist for the State Military standing up for the good in the world and never afraid to speak his mind. This quote speaks about the dualistic nature of the world and how it’s perfect in its imperfections – this being the reason for its beauty. Similar to how we need bad times to appreciate the good, and darkness to see the stars, the world wouldn’t be worth living in if there was perfection. In fact, there is no such thing.

Epic And Inspirational Anime Quotes-Epic And Inspirational Anime Quotes From Your Favorite Characters

“We weep for the blood of a bird, but not for the blood of a fish. Blessed are those with a voice. If the dolls could speak, no doubt they’d scream, ‘I didn’t want to become human.’”

– Motoko from Ghost In The Shell

If you’ve watched this classic Anime movie, you no doubt understand exactly what Mikoto is talking about. In a world where A.I is rampant, Motoko is unwillingly taken from her human life and reborn as an agent in a machine body, with zero memory of her former life. This quote raises the question of morality in a world where the line between humans and robots becomes increasingly more obscure. If a machine can be called emotionally intelligent, what separates it from us? And who decides the value of a life?

“I am the hope of the universe. I am the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. I am the protector of the innocent. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth. Ally to good! Nightmare to you!”

– Son Goku (Dragon Ball Z)

Goku is arguably the most badass and definitely the most powerful character in existence in Anime. In this quote he is speaking to enemies about his place in the universe, standing for good and certainly not afraid to put you on your ass if you threaten to dim the light. He is the gatekeeper, with a mission to maintain peace and save humanity if necessary.

“Religion, ideology, resources, land, spite, love or just because… No matter how pathetic the reason, it’s enough to start war. War will never cease to exist… reasons can be thought up after the fact… Human nature pursues strife.”

– Paine (Naruto Shippuden)

Paine is a major villain in Naruto with an extremely relevant point. War is inevitable, its human nature. Retracing our footsteps in history, war has been a staple part of our existence. This may be down to the fact that we’re flawed on a biological level, with self-destructive cells that inherently lead to subconscious self-destructive tendencies. Or perhaps it is sheerly down to greed, gluttony, and pride. Regardless, peace can be considered by most as a global state of being that will never be achieved. In this life anyway.

“Tying thread is musubi. Connecting people is musubi. The flow of time is musubi. These are all the god’s power. So the braided cords that we make are the god’s art and represent the flow of time itself. They converge and take shape. They twist, tangle, sometimes unravel, break, and then connect again. Musubi – knotting. That’s time.”

-Hitoma Miyamizu  (Kimi No Na Wa)

Mitsuha’s grandmother from Your Name said this quote while they weave thread according to ancient tradition. There’s a lot of symbolism in this quote as the storyline of the movie itself is a complex labyrinth of threads waiting to be untangled by the viewer. The body swap element of the movie results in a poignant plot with traditions, impermanence, and love all taking place on several timelines. This concept of Musubi made the movie a true masterpiece.

“Like I always say, can’t find a door? Make your own.”

 – Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Edward, older brother to Al in Fullmetal Alchemist spoke these words in a world the laws of Equivalent Exchange governs all things. To receive something, you must give up something of equal value. To me this quote is about taking action and initiative and, finding a way. Ed and Al lost a lot when they attempted a ritual to resurrect their dead mother, with equivalent exchange taking Ed’s limbs and Al’s body. On a seemingly impossible mission, they set out to get their bodies back, with hope as their only allies.

“Shinichi, upon researching the concept of demons, I believe that, among all life, humans are the closest thing to it.”

Migi (Parayste)

Migi is an extraterrestrial parasite that attaches himself to Shinichi. This interaction takes place as they cohabit the same body and Migi is learning about human nature. It’s interesting that despite these parasites coming down to earth and eating other humans, they have a completely different perspective, labeling humans as the demons. This holds true from person to person as we all experience our own reality by projecting our inner selves out onto the world.

These are some of the best anime quotes about life that we could come up with. Naturally, the number of amazing quotes out there is as astounding as Anime itself is. But, hopefully these quotes made you think, put a smile on your face or at the very least, motivates you to check out some of these Anime for yourself.
