It’s difficult to really make someone scared by depicting scenes of a knife-weliding lunatic cutting up dramatic and over-the-top teenagers. That being said, there are some horror movies that really stand out.

Now there’s a new horror game doing the rounds, and even though it’s not the most terrifying experience, the 50’s style cartoon graphics and the dated, erry bleakness of the setting make the game stand out. In fact, in terms of design, this game is a masterpiece – and if you’re prone to jumping out of your seat, then it’ll give you a fair few chills as well. 

Bendy and the Ink Machine

The game follows the story of Henry, a man who was once the chief animator at a vintage cartoon studio. He’s since left the job and the studio has fallen into disrepair – flooded by an ink machine and tortured by some terrifying events happening inside its walls. Henry gets invited back to the studio by his former boss, but what awaits him isn’t a welcome home party (unless you’re into some really messed up parties…), instead, it’s a horrifying journey through the corridoors of the studio, where the animations seem to have come to life and are terrorizing everyone inside (chiefly, you). 

The ink machine isn’t to be taken lightly. It’s turned into a dark force and has unleashed the ink demon – an enemy which you cannot kill and must hide in fear from every time it appear. That being said, there are lots of other enemies in Bendy and the Ink Machine apk that you can kill by bashing their heads in with a pipe, or whatever other objects you have lying around. 

The vintage graphics in the game give it an extrememly eery feeling, remniscent of the cartoons of the 50’s, which when you look back on them, were actually creepy AF and had some serisouly disturbing content in them. Let’s not forget, Walt Disney wrote all those stories as horror pieces to begin with, and the fact they’re cartoons was only because people were a little concerned about the messed up endings to his fairytales. 

The most famous cartoon character of Henry’s former studio, Bendy, will taunt you thorughout the game as he seeks to unleash twisted terror. The game’s characters have their own twisted stories, some of whom are worshiping Bendy as a god, and who will extract brutal punishment on you if you cross their beliefs. The plot of the game ends with a meaningful twist that will really have you thinking – for your sake, we won’t spoil that for you! 

Best Features of Bendy and the Ink Machine

Now that you understand a bit more about this twisted and terrifying game, let’s take a closer look at the deatils of what makes it so good. 

GRAPHICS: As mentioned before, the vintage 50’s style graphics give an eery edge to the game. Everything has this old, almost rust like yellow tint to it, and the items in the game all vividly stand out as if they were hand drawn by the design team. The game’s environment does a lot to bring ou the horror of the plotline. That takes us on to…

… THE PLOT: The plotline of the game is very clever and while we can’t really explain why without giving it all away, we highly recommend that you play through it yourself to get at what it’s all about. As you progress through the game you’ll come to understand the tragic circumstances of what happened to bring the ink machine and the ink demon to ruin the cartoon studio. A story of greed, corruption, and insanity awaits players who delve into this story. 

CHARACTERS: The characters in Bendy and the Ink Machine apk feature great detail and have accents that are exagerated to give it that dated and slightly surreal feeling. The voice acting is great and the scripts aren’t short of that, either. Ultimately, the compliment the plot perfectally and make the game incredibly interesting to play. 

PACE: The game isn’t all about fighting off ink monsters. The pace is slow enough for it to really capture a sense of creepiness, but it isn’t too slow that you get bored (a common problem in horror games). Enemies will jump out at you from nowhere and unanticipated plot twists will continually throw you back into the action. 

PUZZLES: The game is of puzzles that usually take on the form of a task like trying to get the power on or needing to make some pipes out of ink to seal some flooding. The puzzles are a nice touch that make the game more than just about creepy visuals and occasional scenes of action – it forces you to use your brain and your braun. 

FORUMS: This is a weird one actually, but the game has a lot of active chatter surrounding the mysterious plotline – you can join in the chat at the official website of the game, although, you might run into some spoilers if you’ve not completed it yet – you’ve been warned! 

PRICE: Yes, this isn’t one of those free Android games, unfortunately, but the price is very reasonable for the level of entertainment that you’ll get from it. At US$6.99, it’s not too much to ask.
